Facebook is one of the greatest inventions that connect people through the world. Well, thanks to Mark Zuckerberg for inventing this technology. We can’t deny this kind of social network service help us a lot in socializing. There are many interesting thing that we can do by joining Facebook, but why Jenna Wortham, a technology reporter from New York says in her article that ‘All The Cool Kids Are Quitting Facebook.’?. she said in her article that Facebook’s main point is to builds closer ties among friends and colleagues but it turns the opposite way. It gives gap among those people, not making it closer.
I think all of them make sense since I’ve happen to felt it before. I only know about their condition by checking their updated status and if they don’t, I just considered that they are fine. Anything in our life was easy for us since we only have to ‘comment’ and ‘like’. Something that runs through my mind now is why I’m feeling awkward with my friends when we meet with each other although we are always chatting through Facebook?, it is because we don’t know their true feelings at that time. If we use the mobile phone instead of ‘words’, at least we can hear the tones and it is easier to express our feeling at that time.
The most important and major concerns is
our privacy. Facebook tend to have ‘a general sense of trust in others and
trust in institutions’, but this is also the reason why people are quitting
Facebook by being too trusting. Our privacy in Facebook is not that secure
since we all know that it has been attacked by the hackers.
All this while, I did not realizes the
truth behind this social network system which is Facebook create a distant
between each other. I may continue to use it, but I’ll take all the things she
said as a great speech.
